Plum Jelly? Fall of 2012

Plum Jelly?

Recently I  have been researching for the best sugar free plum jam or jelly recipe.
In so doing I have learned a few things about plums, one in particular is that they are full of pectin!
As you may know pectin is the ingredient that is used to firm of your fruit and preserve your canning projects.

The researching became confusing since all the recipe's I read were all different.
I did find a recipe that used raw Stevia  and I just happened to have some handy, so here are my results!
I threw in all the plums my hubby picked, I never measured to see how many cups but the amount filled this pot. I then added less than a cup of water and put them on the stove to cook down.  Once the plums got mushie I then started to add the Stevia, again I didn't really measure because I was adding the amount by taste.

Now you all know it isn't a good idea to wing it when canning and jamming, but I just had too try.

After the plums cooked down I got out the food mill to squeeze out the juice and separate the pits and skins.  The result was about a pint and a half. I poured the plums into freezer containers for freezer jelly.
I really don't think this is going to work but I do think I made some pretty tasty plum sauce or syrup!
~ Until next time, Miss P. :)

September 16, 2012

Hey I turned 55 today!
The weather was awesome so after I did the laundry and transplanted the geraniums I drove the hubby up to Cascade Lake and went for a swim!
The wind was really blowing fast from the north but once I got under the water it was better than I expected. Very delightful.
Peace & Love to all and thanks for the Birthday blessings :)

Not Just One But Two!

My version of a braided head band
I made the buttons out of Fimo
The variegated purple yarn was free
(I love free)
While the lavender and blue yarn was bought at a rock bottom price!
I am having way too much fun trying to use up all my odds and ends yarns :)
Here it is on my head!

A while ago I made the Uno-cabled head band and loved the pattern so much I immediately made one for my BFF. As much as I love the head band it still didn't meet my need of a knitted cabled headband that I could wear all day. So after much search I found the below pattern on Ravelry.com

Again, another way to use up your end skeins of yarn. This was my first one that took only a matter of hours to knit. I used left over variegated sock yarn. This head band you can wear for hours and not even notice that your wearing it!
Can't wait too see what I tackle next!
Until then :)
