Jewels

Well I finally got around to photographing the jewelry that I
Have been making!
Years ago I got into to beading (seed beads, Ugh!) after a year
of that I moved onto to other crafts. I recently picked up beading
again but this time I started off with pearls and moved onto
stones and precious gems. The easiest way for me to show all
my work was to individually photograph each piece and then
import into Picasa photo program which allowed me to create
this awesome collage!
Enjoy

Hot Summer Days

Ok I know it has been months since I last bloged, life got away with me!
So I got so hot yesterday and I knew if I went up to the lake at 2Pm I wouldn't find a place to park. so I went to the hardware store and bought myself a inflatable pool and filled it up! As you can see from my picture I have created a mini oasis in my back yard! What a way to relax-a good book, sitting in my pool and a cool beverage. I think I stayed in there for an hour and a half! Jesse came home and couldn't believe it, Connie asked if there was enough room for the both of us in the pool! I love life on Orcas. Hope to be blogging again soon.

Star Fish

One of my favorite things to do is to go to the beach during low tide and explore. I was able to do so on a recent Marine Science field trip. I love looking in the tidal pools for star fish. This day I was extremely lucky to find a great variety and color of these beautiful creatures.

This is a natural grouping of shells starfish with a variety of colors and wood.

Looking for refuge where ever they can find it!

A mass amount gathering under a rock.

OHS MARINE SCIENCE

Low tides are so much fun, just listening to the squeal of delights and surprise is worth a field trip alone to the beach!
Another wonderful day in the field. OHS Marine Science Class headed out to Fisherman's
Bay at low tide to see what we could see! We found Articulated worms Lemon Skin Mollusks

a very large Razor Clam?
And a Gunnel that look like a Rattle Snake!

Fishermans Bay

The first week of April found the OHS Marine Science Class at the Beach. We walked to down town Eastsound to the beach on the waterfront, commonly known at Indian Island or not so commonly known Fisherman's Bay.
Here you can see the class is circled up and receiving instructions from their fearless leader AKA Teacher Marta Branch.
The Sun came out for our 2 hours of low tide specimen search.

As the tide rapidly flows out of the sound we are finding many creatures, here is a Grunt Sculpin. Very tropical looking for our super cold Pacific Northwest waters.

The color purple, this poor starfish couldn't flow with the tide quick enough so it will have to do its best to brave and survive the elements and predators.

What a great shoot of Indian Island in Fisherman's Bay with the tide out. When we arrived the water was clear up to the second group of people. 2 hours later its time to head back to school either to catch a bus home or after school sports and maybe even completing the marine science homework!

Socks for a necklace

For Years I have tried to knit myself a pair of socks, I found I have a real problem when it comes to counting! My cuffs never turned out the way they were suppose to! I had a freind once who was so determined that I knit myself a pair a socks that she bought me some beautiful yarn and needles, the needles where a size "0". Yea right, like I am going to knit socks on a size "0" needle? I couldn't even get past casting on!
FEAR NOT
Enter Ann
Ann is one of the best sock knitters that I know-I gave her the yarn (after looking at this yarn for 2 years) and in a month's time she knitted me the most awesome pair of socks that I have ever seen! They are vibrant and beautiful as well as super cozy. I plan on wearing them for the very first time on Easter Sunday!
I wanted to do something just as wonderful for Ann?
So I made her a Malachite necklace, Ann loves green!
Can you see Brother in the background?

Yes the necklace is a little out of focus but how could I pass up this shot with Evan looking right at me and hugging his mommy?
And here are my most Awesome Beautiful and
very cool socks!
They fit perfectly !

What up?

Well it has been a while since I last blogged. My life has been crazy these last weeks an have had very little time to get out and play with my camera. So hence there are no images to this post! One of the reasons I started blogging is because I love to take pictures, so when I am not using my camera I find that I am not blogging! I hope that when the weather changes I will be able to get out and capture some beautiful scenery from our little bit of paradise. I have been experimenting with Stampin Up's new Decor Elements, I will be posting a photo how my creation turned out later this week. I also made a very cool scrapbook page done all in black and white. I will try to post a shot of the page later in the week. So there you have it, something to look forward to...... for those of you that are interested!

OHS Ceramics Art Class 2008!I I wil

The first semester of the school year  I found my self assisting in a ceramics art class. I hadn't played with clay in years! Oh what Fun! Above is a 2 foot large pumpkin, this assignment included 2 parts. Each piece was to be at least 10 inches, the first was something from nature and the second was to reflect something         from this piece, it also had to be at least 10 inches. The accompaning sculpture is a piece of pie!

This is my favorite photo! The assignment called for three pieces that were alike. This student chose to sculpt the face masks. I captured the student working with the sun comming through the window behind her-SNAP- she moved her hands but I think the tools and pile of clay shavings ehance her work.

Yet again another sculpture from nature, this piece is bigger than the 10 inch requirement. I think is represents the model exactly, an acorn. Its really quite beautiful!

Another awesome piece, each petal is an individual piece, also the stem and center are also seperate pieces. Notice the color this student used to make it look real?
I love art! I will post some of my work later.

Gifts from BGF

I love home made gifts and Delihla does too! Bgf made this knitted
felted mouse and put some cat nip in so as to drive her crazy!
While sitting at the table the other day I caught a motion out of
the corner of my eye.....it was kitty throwing the mouse up into
the air and then catching it. Playing catch all by herself!

I absolutley love this hat! Bgf made this and was trying to sell it at the Christmas Bazaar. I raved about it so much she probabaly felt she had to give it to me for Christmas! I think my hat and I are going to have some good times together. I found some doubled stitched ribbon to thread through and tighten it up a bit and finished it off with a cute simple bow! So much fun for me!

Notice the writing on the pic's? I use Picasa to download and store my pictures on my computer. I just upgraded to picasa 3 and this is one of the new features. I think I am going to use this quite a bit. Picasa is free from google - Check it out!
