OIEF Food for thought

I am trying to catch up on my blogging! Every year OIEF host its largest fundraiser dinner and auction.
Orcas Island Education Foundation also picks a theme art project and invites artist to join the fun and
create whatever! This year we had a choice between a wooden egg or a larger paper mache' egg. I chose
the wooden egg. After sanding the egg I lightly sponged the entire egg with a silver iridescent shimmer
paint. I then tried to stamp a vine image on the egg, this was a little tricky because I had to roll the egg
and move the stamp at the same time, the stamp measures the size of my hand! Next step was to break
out the wood burning tool and trace over the stamped image, I learned how to use different shaped tips
on the tool for different affects. I then burned positive affirmations in the remaining blank areas of the stamp.
Before I started all of this I invited a friend over to plaster cast my hands for a base of the egg. I didn't
want the base to be flashy or anything like that. In fact I assumed how ever one the bid to just throw
the hands away. Anyway, I spent many hours sanding down the plaster hands before painting them.
I stuffed each hand with plastic bags closed them off and painted one white and one black, for a special
touch I make a pewter bracelet. The fundraiser was held in the spring of this last year. I never know who
wins the auction on the stuff I made!

Thanksgiving 2011

Thanksgiving dinner was very low key with just the three of us.
Jess couldn't make it, too close to his move to Florida. So it was
just my lubby hubby, our amazing daughter Audra and myself!

Below is a our feast table bare except the table dressing! I had been
very sick with a cold recently and decided at the last minute to make
place cards, napkin rings and a thankful grateful card on the table
after I ironed the place mats and napkins.

Tadaa! the table fully dressed!
Hope everyone had a wonderful time with
family and friends. So much to be thankful for
and even more for how grateful I am. Posted by Picasa
